Birdathon 2024 Approaches the Starting Line!

May 1 is the first day of Western Field Ornithologist’s 2024 Birdathon. The Birdathon continues to June 15, but don’t wait to get started.

If you have yet to form a team or join a team, now is the time to make plans with friends and family and get ready to start birding to raise funds to support WFO. Our fundraising goal is $30,000, which will be used for the following projects.

  • Light-footed Ridgway’s Rail habitat restoration through ReWild Mission Bay, a project of the San Diego Audubon Society and the ReWild Coalition of 85 community partners
  • WFO student programs, in particular, enabling scholars from Mexico to participate in and share their research at the WFO conference this October in San Diego
  • WFO publications

We cannot fund these worthwhile programs without your support. Here’s how to join the 2024 WFO Birdathon. Note that the Birdathon has a new feature allowing individuals and teams to share their eBird checklists on a dedicated WFOBirdathon account.

We look forward to seeing your checklists and your photos and to hearing about your Birdathon adventures.
