In 2022, Western Field Ornithologists celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in our organization’s journey. As we mature, it’s crucial to ensure our mission endures for many more years. To this end, we established the Xema Society, our legacy fund.
WFO has contributed to the understanding of avian fauna through conventions, the peer-reviewed journal Western Birds, and numerous published monographs. These resources provide valuable insights into bird ecology and distribution in the western states, information often missing from birding apps and guidebooks.
Our commitment to education extends to sponsoring students at WFO conventions and offering research grants to undergraduate and graduate students. Our annual conference is an opportunity to further share avian knowledge and foster connections with renowned ornithologists.
We invite you to help sustain WFO’s mission by joining the Xema Society. More information about WFO’s planned giving can be found on the WFO website. For additional information, contact Shaun Wilde, WFO Treasurer. Keeping WFO’s legacy fund in mind ensures our work continues for future generations.
